Our letter to the President

Dear President Obama,

Please take action to end America’s affordable housing and homelessness crisis. We need:
  • More section 8 vouchers immediately
  • Build public housing to meet the need
  • Full funding of the National Housing Trust Fund
  • Stop foreclosures

Edulia Ortega Medina, San Jose

My family lost our house when our two children, aged 13 and 15, were students at Oak Grove. Francisco is very good at track and field, he runs very fast. Jonathan also goes to school there, and Christopher goes to elementary school and is very good in mathematics.

I want you to stop foreclosures. We paid $4000 a month for three years for our house and then lost it when it was raised to $5000. I am very sad because our family is many people, and now our children have nowhere to live. I need help with money to pay my rent.

I have no food.

I have depression.

I stay sick.

Congratulations, for you are a good man with a good wife and two girls. You have a good family. Thanks. I hope you hear me. Thanks. Thanks.
