We need more section 8 and emergency deposit assistance for single parents like me, who are looking for a place to live. It is hard to find a room where we can stay, especially with the economy now. So we hope to see some housing added for families with a single parent like me.

My uncle is a single parent who only earns $400 a paycheck. He has been living with his daughter in their car, while they are on the section 8 waiting list. We need more vouchers to help those in need. ONE LOVE.

Please help, I am homeless.

Linda Lappin, San Jose

Without rent control or low-income housing, we find more and more desperate people seeking shelter. Even if you have a job, it may not pay enough to afford housing (not to mention health insurance). Then what?

Help!

Brian Reynolds, San Jose

At times in my life I found myself in situations, homeless and hungry and not knowing where to turn. Programs like the one at Sacred Heart in San Jose have lifted me up and got me on my feet again. I hope that they will remain here for many years to come, and help many others in need as they have done for me. Thank you for all your hard work.

Quit passing pork barrel bills that only benefit a few in one state. My tax dollars are being spent for things that are not necessary and benefit only a few. Take care of the people, not building crap that I can't use.

Carmen Minasakanian, San Jose

Jennelle Poister, San Jose

I am a young single mother. I work hard, but it is harder and harder to make ends meet in California. I am having to wait FOUR YEARS on the section 8 waiting least, but I need affordable housing NOW! Maybe not as low rent as section 8, but at least within a reasonable range for regular hard-working individuals. Thank you Mr. President for your concern.

Margarita Vesa, San Jose

Que bajen los intereses de cobros altos en casa y que los bancos no sean tan crueles, porque hoy familias que los han perdido porque los bancos no estan ayudando como deberian.

Dear Mr. President,

I am worried sick about the plight of the homeless here in sunny, lovely Santa Clara County, California. True, our weather is great, but to be homeless is to be running, always running. Running from, running to, trying to make ends meet, trying to catch a bus, to get to a doctor, to get a letter, to pick up your medications, your next meal, or a dry blanket. San Jose is a very big place when you are on foot and you have no wheels.

Can you help? We all need a place to call home. Thanks.

Maria Reza, San Jose

Ahora tengo necesidad de todo, principalmente una vivienda.

Victoria Mendoza, San Jose

Le pido, Senor Presidente, que nos baje la renta, respete los derechos medicos, y no nos discrimine. Gracias.

John P. Morgan, San Jose

Mr. President,

I am a veteran and I served my country well. The past administration, and apparently yours as well, has somehow forgotten the sacrifices we have made. The resources of the VA are being spread thin. Please take care of those who fought for the "freedoms" that made it possible for you to be elected.

Signed,

A Homeless Veteran
