Our letter to the President

Dear President Obama,

Please take action to end America’s affordable housing and homelessness crisis. We need:
  • More section 8 vouchers immediately
  • Build public housing to meet the need
  • Full funding of the National Housing Trust Fund
  • Stop foreclosures

Dear Mr. Obama,

We are old enough to remember when homelessness in America did not exist for all practical purposes. America is richer and greater now than it was thirty years ago, yet our government has allowed millions of our people to plunge into homelessness and desperate poverty. The government has the power, the authority, and the resources to end poverty immediately, as called for by Dr. King in 1968. Please use your office to lead a campaign to do so in 2009. The time has come to end the decades of unnecessary suffering, broken families, and wasted lives.

"The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern."
