Nuestra necesidad es muy mal. Necesitamos trabajos para mucha gente, tambien mucha ayuda como comida, ropa, zapatos, y lo fundamental doctor, porque hay mucha enfermidad. Por favor ayudenos.
Gladys Huerta, San Jose
We are very fortunate to have housing assistance. We wish others that we know could have it also. I see too many people on the streets homeless. I grew up in the Bay Area and it wasn't this bad before.
I always pray for homeless people. Please help the people of San Jose, California, and the Bay Area. We need help desperately. I know families who live in cars and motels.

We definitely need housing! I know, because I have section 8 and I definitely could not make it if I didn't have it.

We need more housing assistance. Wages in this area do not pay enough for the high rents here. We need more jobs. You need to stop the outsourcing in this area. We also need to see an end brought to the severe discrimination against certain races by the employers.

Obama, I am very happy we have you to support our country. Please put more money to our low-income housing system to HELP the homeless. Thank you.
You are the best, Obama. I will support you always.

My family is on section 8 right now and I would like to let you know that, without this funding, we probably would be homeless. More families would benefit from expanding this program. Thank you.

Dear Mr. Obama,
I'm sure you have an idea, or in the very least an understanding of how we Americans really live. For example, the $100,000 LED scoreboard recently added to the local high school instead of computers for the kids was and is a waste - or better said, a misguided use of your "change".
The lines for the shelters are full of small children and frustrated parents. Food banks, clothes closets, etc. are all being over-utilized, making these agencies split at the seams. There is an undeniable need for you, Mr. Obama, to help. Public housing is a necessity. Not everyone out here is fortunate enough to be handed anything, so we take what we can get.
Please review your plans for funding where it counts. I hope to be heard - for a change.

These things are needed for the people that can't afford housing. I'm one of them.

With all the money being spent on this war we are partaking in, I really feel something can be done about this country's housing situation. Please help where help is REALLY needed!

Me gustaria una reforma migratoria, vivienda a bajo costo, un buen trato, y mucho trabajo. Muchas gracias.

We are in need of more housing. I have been on disability and cannot get low-income housing because of the economy. I was employed for the City of San Jose and I have been homeless for one year because I can't afford rent.

Urge vivienda para gente indigente de la calle y que estamos buscando trabajo.

My family lost our house when our two children, aged 13 and 15, were students at Oak Grove. Francisco is very good at track and field, he runs very fast. Jonathan also goes to school there, and Christopher goes to elementary school and is very good in mathematics.
I want you to stop foreclosures. We paid $4000 a month for three years for our house and then lost it when it was raised to $5000. I am very sad because our family is many people, and now our children have nowhere to live. I need help with money to pay my rent.
I have no food.
I have depression.
I stay sick.
Congratulations, for you are a good man with a good wife and two girls. You have a good family. Thanks. I hope you hear me. Thanks. Thanks.
Carolina L. Medina, San Jose
Please look into the housing problems in San Jose. We really need you, President Obama, to see the heart of all these homeless people in this area. Please do not dismiss our need for more section 8 housing. How would you feel if your children were on the street? Could you yourself survive even one night on the street? Please take these letters into your heart.

The housing situation is very bad for me, since I am homeless. Also the justice system beginning in Santa Clara County, California needs reform. My son was wrongfully convicted. His name came out in the Mercury News "Tainted Trials, Stolen Justice" series.
Because justice was obstructed by the D.A. and star witnesses in the court, qand nothing was done about it, please instruct the Justice Department to interview my son and myself and intervene in this case.

I myself have been chronically homeless for several years, due to rental of a foreclosure and to the cost of living. I've been barely making it, struggling, living in programs and shelters, and I would love to see the cost of living go down, so I can afford to live my life, free and stress-free. Thank you for your time. GOD BLESS YOU!
Gerry Hunt, San Jose

With the commissions being earned for real estate sales and for mortgage financing, the problem of unreliable credit standards was a natural result, as was the explosion in real estate prices. We need to take a look at the result of "FREE MARKET ECONOMICS" on class structure as being truly class warfare.

I believe that we really need the help now before these problems get worse. I have been homeless and am no longer homeless, thanks to section 8.

I would like the opportunity to get a low-income apartment so I could stop renting rooms from people in the community. I am scared at the thought of becoming homeless soon.

I am homeless and the section 8 housing has such a long list. It takes years to get in. We really do need more funding in the area of housing. I hope to have a job and a place to live soon. Hopefully the unemployment rate will change. It is so depressing.
David Dominguez, San Jose
Azaila Quezada, San Jose
We need more section 8 vouchers immediately. Mostly everyone is low-income. Families can barely afford rent, so if we can get more section 8 vouchers it would be a great help. And help is what we need.
Edward J. Thompson, San Jose

Dear Mr. President,
I am writing you this letter from a food and clothing organization here in San Jose, California. It is my hope that you can continue to improve our situation with more food and clothing organizations, as well as more housing section 8 and funding for the National Housing Trust Fund. Thank you, Mr. President.
