In the past two months in our small church community, there have been three people looking for affordable housing costing less than $500 a month. Of these, one had been evicted from a one-bedroom apartment where he had lived for 14 years. He now lives in one 10' x 12' room in a house. Another is moving into a shared living situation (four people splitting the rent), and another is moving into a studio apartment in subsidized housing.
Housing is the foundation on which steady employment, good health, education, and other opportunities rest. I urge you to increase the supply of affordable housing.
